Prototype 1: Chinese Traditional Festival
Authoring tool: Multimedia ToolBook II

Multimedia Tool Book II adopts the metaphor of card or page. It supports Text, Graphic, Audio, Path Animation, Video as well as Hyperlink to a URL and can be exported as a series of HTML pages for distribution on the Internet. In terms of this program, Using this authoring tool not only it is multi-functional and intuitive, but I considered it based on the contents of this program. Because these four festivals have their own meanings, customs and even different food, I design them on separate pages so that emphasize their different characters and intension of culture.
 

Introduction page:

Text: General introduction of  4 festivals, using hot words can link to the 4 pages immediately.

Graphic: The graphic is a traditional Chinese gate. It is a metaphor for the beginning of this program.

Buttons: Clear to show the paths of this program.

Audio: Traditional Chinese music, lets viewers feel the different culture in a multimedia way.

Moon Festival page:

Graphic: Round things in pictures illustrates that the Moon Festival is a reunion festival.

Animation: Adding the fun of the page and implying the mooncake is a symbol of the moon.

Audio: Traditional Chinese music, let viewers imagine the feelings in lovely full moon night.

Prototype 2: First Aid Around Us
Authoring Tool: Authorware Professional 3.5

This program adopt Icon-Based ( Logical Flow) metaphor. The authoring tool is Authorware Professional. This software assembles icons on a flow line, and provides outstanding interactive function. It also supports sound, animation and video methods so that it is suitable for being used to design instructional multimedia program. Considering from the contents of this program, three basic steps of First Aid happen one by one (linear), and each step contains different elements. Instructional software should allow learners to enter the part where they want to go, therefore, they can study, review and find relevant knowledge. Thus, I design this program with organizing the contents in a logic order and providing navigation among elements in each part.
 

Composite structure lets users navigate the program freely. This can help users study, review and find relevant knowledge. On the other hand, linear structure imposed help the instructional process in a logical way.

A Model for Instructional Web Design

Along with more and more applications of Web-based technology in teaching and learning process, how to use this technology
appropriately and effectively, and how to design and implement computer-mediated educational activities are very important to
researchers and designers in this area.

The purpose of this site is to investigate current research and experiments in computer-mediated education and discusses the
methods of designing, organizing, and implementing Web-based educational activities in higher education.
 

 

Project for Intern at Ithaca Times:

WEB-BASED ADVERTISING AND YOUR OPPORTUNITIES

In this learning program, it introduces the basic knowledge of Web advertising, how it works, and advertisers' opportunities on the Ithaca Times Web site to advertise their business, products and services. To use this online learning program, they can navigate the contents through "NEXT" and "BACK" buttons, or enter "MENU" to choose to a specific topic.

I use the Director to make this program. It needs Shockwave to watch this program.
